Center for Outreach, Mentorship and Empowerment

Our work

COME works at the intersection of leadership, human capital development, and societal transformation. Our focus is to equip individuals and institutions with the capacity to lead effectively and contribute meaningfully to the development of African societies.

Focus areas

We concentrate on a small set of outcomes we can explain, measure, and repeat. Specific offerings are organized on the Programs page.

For full narratives on all six areas (including research, entrepreneurship, and inclusion), see the dedicated page below. Read the full Focus areas page.

  • Professional participant at a conference table, listening with focus - representing leadership development and engaged learning.

    Leadership development

We develop leaders who are equipped with the mindset, skills, and discipline required to lead with integrity and effectiveness across professional and societal contexts.

  • Two women together at the Uplift International Conference with COME branding - collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and capacity building.

    Mentorship & capacity building

We support individuals through structured mentorship and continuous development, enabling them to grow in competence, confidence, and clarity of purpose.

  • Outdoor community outreach under a canopy: staff and neighbors gathered around a table with bread and drinks, representing direct social impact in the field.

    Social impact & outreach

We translate knowledge into action by engaging communities and institutions, driving initiatives that create measurable and lasting impact.

  • Leaders in professional and institutional settings, representing organizational transformation.

    Organizational & institutional transformation

We work with organizations to strengthen systems, improve leadership capacity, and support sustainable growth through people-centered strategies.

Cross-cutting themes

These lenses run through every focus area (see the Focus areas page for the full list). They explain how we sharpen delivery, not what we replace it with. Program names and syllabi stay on the Programs page.

Research & thought leadership

Evidence and narrative that sharpen program design and inform policy conversations, while staying grounded in what can be implemented with available resources.

Gender & inclusion

Intentional design so access, voice, and progression are not skewed by default. In our entrepreneurship programs, 54% of participants are women. Cohort composition, facilitation methods, and safeguards are all shaped by this commitment.

Entrepreneurship development

Building judgment, networks, and execution habits for people building ventures or leading change inside organizations. This includes the Mitudua Project - a street economy initiative equipping informal sector workers - and educational support schemes that have reached 83 students and trained 28 young people in skilled crafts.

Mentorship systems & delivery quality

Cadence, matching, and guardrails so relationships produce outcomes - not just introductions. We document expectations, milestones, and what “done well” looks like for mentors and participants alike.
